SAFETY AND SECURITY POLICY

At Defence College for Girls, the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff are our paramount concerns. We are committed to providing a secure and nurturing learning environment where everyone can thrive. Our comprehensive safety and security policy reflects this commitment.

Campus Security:

Our campus is secured with 24/7 surveillance through CCTV cameras strategically installed across the premises. Trained security personnel are stationed at entry and exit points, as well as throughout the campus, to maintain vigilance and ensure a safe environment. Access to the college is controlled, and visitors are required to register at the reception.

Student Safety:

We prioritize student safety through various measures, including:

  • Anti-Bullying Policy: We have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and harassment of any kind. We encourage students to report any incidents to designated staff members, and we provide support and counseling services to victims.
  • Emergency Procedures: Regular drills are conducted to prepare students and staff for emergencies such as earthquakes, fires, or other unforeseen events. Emergency contact information is readily available, and protocols are in place for swift and effective response.
  • Transportation Safety: If the college provides transportation, all vehicles are regularly inspected and driven by licensed professionals. Designated pick-up and drop-off points are established for student safety.

Cyber Safety:

We promote responsible online behavior and educate students about cyber safety. Our network is protected by firewalls and anti-virus software. We encourage students to be cautious about sharing personal information online and to report any cyberbullying or online harassment.

A Drug-Free Campus:

We maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards the possession, use, or distribution of narcotics and illegal substances. The use of such substances poses a serious threat to the health and safety of individuals and the entire college community. Any student found to be involved with narcotics will face disciplinary action, which may include expulsion. We encourage students to report any suspicious activity related to drug use to the college administration immediately. Confidentiality will be maintained. We also provide access to counseling and support services for students who may be struggling with substance abuse.

Prohibition of Arms:

The possession of firearms, weapons of any kind, or explosive devices is strictly prohibited on campus. This policy applies to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Bringing weapons onto college premises poses a significant safety risk and will result in immediate disciplinary action and potential legal consequences. Security personnel are authorized to conduct searches if there is reasonable suspicion of a violation of this policy.

Mobile Phone Policy:

While we recognize the importance of communication, the use of mobile phones can sometimes be disruptive to the learning environment. Therefore, the following guidelines are in place:

  • Classroom Usage: Mobile phones must be switched off or silenced during class sessions, lectures, and examinations. Use is only permitted with the explicit permission of the instructor for educational purposes.
  • Designated Areas: Mobile phone use is permitted in designated areas of the college, such as the cafeteria, common rooms, and library (with consideration for others).
  • Respectful Usage: Students are expected to use their mobile phones responsibly and respectfully, avoiding loud conversations or disruptive behavior.
  • Photography and Videography: Taking photos or videos of other students or faculty without their consent is strictly prohibited.

Collaboration with Law Enforcement:

We maintain a strong relationship with local law enforcement agencies and collaborate with them to ensure the safety and security of our campus.

This policy is regularly reviewed and updated to reflect best practices and address emerging safety concerns. We encourage students, parents, and staff to familiarize themselves with this policy and to report any safety concerns to the college administration immediately. Together, we can create a safe and secure learning environment for all.
